How facial acupuncture works
Acupuncture on your face is simply an extension of how we work across your entire body. Our needles are used on certain points on your face that we know will stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory system, which in turn help deliver vital nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells.
Our goal is to nourish and stimulate your skin from the inside out, even your complexion, and promote blood flow to leave your skin glowing.
Alongside our customised plan of herbal medicine and special herbal pastes, we will work to further stimulate the production of collagen. This helps improve elasticity to minimise fine lines and wrinkles.
Treating acne with acupuncture
Acne is another common facial skin condition that can easily be treated with traditional Chinese medicine.
According to TCM, acne is considered a disease primarily related to the pathogenic influence of heat on the lung, spleen, Zang and Fu channels. This heat may be due to poor diet, overwork, intemperate sexual activity, or the natural ascendance of Yang energy, which is typical in adolescence.
Heat may affect the lung or stomach meridians, from where it is transmitted to the skin, causing the condition’s inflammatory response. Heat may also combine with dampness to form a Damp-Heat complex, affecting the skin and sebaceous glands.
In more severe cases the eruptions can feel sore or itchy. Teenagers are more susceptible to acne because during puberty there is an increase in androgens in both boys and girls. Pre-menstrual women also often experience outbreaks of acne.
3 types of acne and associated symptoms:
1. Wind-heat effect in the lung channel
Wind heat in the lung system can stimulate the skin and cause acne. Main symptoms: lesions on the forehead and near the nose, slight itching, sensitivity to wind, feeling thirsty, red tip of the tongue with thin and yellow coat and slippery rapid pulse.
2. Damp-heat in spleen & stomach system
Main symptoms: Lesions around the mouth and chest, shoulder and back, large appetite and thirst, dry stools, yellow and greasy fur-like coating on the tongue and soft and rapid pulse.
3. Disharmony of Zang and Fu channels
Main symptoms: changes based on the menstruation cycle. It is usually worse before menstruation, accompanied by irregular periods or period pain. The tongue is often dark red with a yellow coating and the individual has a taunt and rapid pulse.
We will work with you not only through acupuncture but also with herbal products to address these issues, expel wind and remove heat in the lung channel, clear away heat and eliminate dampness, or regulate the Zang and Fu.

My elderly aunty started going to her in 2018 and she feels better after every massage. It is as though Dr.Eve can 'see' the pain and targets those areas specifically.
